June is Family Blogging Month!

The Learning Lizards love to share their learning through this blog.

The involvement of family members in our blog is so important. It makes everything we do at school more meaningful and special.

In an effort to include more family members in our online community, we are starting a new blog comment challenge called…

Whenever a students’ family member leaves us a comment, the student will record it on our blog comment chart using the following codes:

At the end of Term 2 (which ends on June 27th), the student who has the most comments from different family members will win a prize! This will be announced via our blog when Term 3 begins. In order to keep the challenge fair to everyone, each student can only record one comment on the chart per day. So the goal is to get as many different family members involved as possible during the month-long challenge!

Having conversations through commenting is one of the best parts of blogging so in your comments feel free to ask questions and reply to other people’s questions. Please refer to our Guidelines and Safety pages if you are unsure of how to comment or respond appropriately.

We’re inviting everyone to comment including mums, dads, brothers, sisters, grandmas, grandpas, uncles, aunts, cousins and family friends! Please do not include surnames, just how you know our students. For example; Katelyn (Mia’s Aunty)

* Family members don’t have to comment only on this post, they can comment on any post on our blog. *

If you want to know how to write a comment and for tips on writing quality commentsclick here.

Thank you and credit to Kathleen Morris and Kelly Jordan at 4KM & 4KJ for the idea and wording of this introductory post! This was an idea originally created by Mrs Yollis in California.

  1. Hi Class 3/4D this is June I am Phoenix’s nana. What a great idea, I am really enjoying looking at this site and being involved in your class.

  2. It was awesome being part of the blogging challenge today. Eric taught me quite a bit. I think you are all doing a terrific job. Congrats to Charlotte and Rose for winning the challenge.

    From Melissa (Eric’s mum)

    • Serena is from New Zealand…. I wonder if the cluster map has a new yellow dot from her post. When I checked yesterday it hadn’t Miss Fraser, why would that be?

      Karen (Mitch’s mum)

      • Hi Karen,
I think the ClustrMap takes some time to update. For example, at the moment it is only showing visitors up until the 30th of May – I think the dots must be the same!
        From Miss Fraser 🙂

        • Yay, it’s there… Lower Hutt is in Wellington. Great…. a bit of a delay though. Where can we find recent posts that may not be the 5 most recent (do you know what I mean?)?
Hope everyone had a good weekend.

        • Thanks Cuz, there have been a couple of kiwis visiting this blog I see. Someone from Lower Hutt and also Porirua…awesome. Has Reuben made a comment yet?

  11. This is Matt Patricks uncle. I am very new to blogging too, so this a great way to get started. I am not too sure how long it will take for this blog to get to sunbury. I am in Perth Western Australia and it can take a long time for things to get over east.

  12. Hi!

I’m a friend of Mitch’s mum Karen through the twin association. My twin boys are six and we are now living in Boston. We love it here, and the kids especially loved all the snow over christmas time. We went sledding and the piles of snow on the footpath were nearly taller than the kids!
Have fun working on your blog, it’s such a great way to keep in touch with people from all over the world.

    • Thanks so much for commenting on Mitch’s class blog Caroline. Have the kiddies picked up an American accent? Have fun touring around the States in your RV- Griswolds eat your hearts out!!!

  13. Hi 3/4D It is great to see all everyone embracing the blogging challenge and getting involved. All the children are lucky to have such wonderful families and friends. Keep the fun activities rolling on. Go Tigers!!!

  14. Sorry, I’m not a family member, I’m just an ordinary student. What made you pick June as your “Family Blogging Month” anyway? I’m not sure who I’ll be asking to comment on the blog, since my mum and dad have both commented on my classes blog.
How many of your relatives have commented here?

  15. Hi 3/4D, This is the first time I have ever visited or commented on a blog, so thanks for asking me to be part of this challenge. It’s great being able to learn something new and see what is going on at your school. Good luck to you all. Keep up the good work.

    • Thanks Casey, does your class have a blog? It would be fun to set it up so the kids can communicate with each other from different sides of the country. They just did a mystery skype with another school here in Victoria. Great idea, so much to learn as a teacher too… Hope your kids are well, they are certainly growing up aren’t they???

      • Thanks Karen, the kids are definitely growing up. Addison heads to school next year (Kindy which is the first year of school here). I haven’t set the class blog up yet but I hope to this term. The mystery Skype looks fantastic!
